How Technology Can Impact the Future of Cherished or Personalized Number Plates

With the advent of time, technology is slowly creeping into all types of industries regardless of their size and genre. So, it’s not a matter of surprise that it’s moving from the board of our cars to the front and rear, grabbing the license plates and making them look extremely different.

Across the globe, DMVs are looking to produce a new, technologically enhanced type of plate that will help to track the vehicle faster and easier. In addition, it is said that authorities are in charge of releasing new plates and registering cars and the bottom line is that their owners are looking to make the process easier with less paperwork.

There is no denying the fact that there’s a lot of work to be done if a driver wants a pair of personalized number plates instead of the old ones. There is no denying the fact that the process is quite lengthy as it will start from the processing of forms to the actual hammering down of the new plate.

Here’s how technology can improve things.

Plates With Microchips: In some parts of the world, this technology is already being applied and a special microchip embedded in the metal in creating these number plates. The chip contains information like past traffic offenses, the owner’s personal identification number, and contact information and the best part is that can be read from a 100m distance using a special reader. This would ultimately help authorities to learn everything they need to know about the car and they can easily find stolen vehicles or drivers with unsolved offenses in their file.

Electronic license Plates: Popularly Also known as RPlates, these are the most-likely plates of the future. The most notable thing about RPlates is that it reduces the amount of work. In addition, it also improves communication between the DMV and the vehicle owner and keeps the driver out of boring activities like filling out forms.

Other Possible Ideas: When you mix technology and cars, you will have a lot of cool ideas, but these are the only ones to make sense with respect to number plates.

Another interesting thought would be to use barcodes and consider using an actual registration system. And as a matter of fact, it would definitely make it easier for readers to spot the information. But, here’s a problem with that as humans would have quite a problem dealing with this system so it’s not worth implementing.
